Phoenix Challenge
Still the toughest, trickiest, nastiest Winch Challenge in the UK
- just not in Tay Forest anymore!
Phoenix 2010
Entries are now being accepted with a closing date of 1st June 2010
This year's event is being held at RKG Farm (RKG Landrovers) near Twynholm in Kirkcudbightshire, SW Scotland. This is a hilltop site and unlike previous years we do not have access to vast areas of forest so no stump fields but make no mistake, however, we have not gone soft just because we have introduced vehicle regulations and tyre restrictions, you will still need ground anchors, bridging ladders and your wits about you.
New regulations for 2010
Portal axles - not allowed
Rear wheel steering - not allowed
Tyres - max diameter 38.5" (as stated on tyre walls but if anyone tries to take the piss they will answer to Mr Andrew 'Chief Marshal' Prentice before being sent hame tae think again)
Negotiation - not allowed
MSA Competition licences are required by all competitors.
HQ this year is The Murray Arms Hotel which is the centre of Gatehouse of Fleet about 6 miles from the competition site. We have , as usual, booked the entire hotel and as one of our aims is to support local communities, Friday and Saturday nights will see HQ as the place for food, drinks and tall tales where your organising team will be happy to accept bribery in the traditional forms of drinks, snacks and, of course, cash.
